GM. This is Everyday Juice. Last night Juice slid all the way down the Thunder line like it was a waterpark, and Vig, without looking up from his spreadsheet, said "Fine. Now do it again."

🍊 The Squeeze Play: Hawks +3.5. The market tossed us an extra point and we're not giving it back.
🥤 The Fresh Pour: The underdog paid, the World Series is set, and the NBA finally shows up for a full Wednesday. Rough life.
🤔 Off the Menu: Two leans: Buffalo at home, and a Brooklyn total the public can't stop hammering. Leans only, no oranges attached.
⚡ Quick Sips: LeBron's Midwest PSA, Wemby's 1-for-13 (six blocks, relax), and a Spurs-Thunder rematch that skipped straight to chippy.
🍊 Orange Slices: A 4–1 lead, an empty net, and five very long seconds nobody asked for.
🤖 Beat the Vig: Most NBA spreads are priced at −110. What win rate do you need to break even at that price? (Hint: not 50%. Rude, we know.) Answer in The Last Drop.

🍊 Refill: ✅ · Thunder +2.5 (−120), Hard Rock, 1 orange · +0.83u
The crowd took the Spurs. We took the slide. Oklahoma City won 116–104 (NBA.com), and nobody had to refresh the box score twice.
Record: 15–6 · +7.57u

🍊 Squeeze Play: Hawks +3.5
The market handed us a free point. We said thank you.
Game: Hawks at Magic
Sport/Type: NBA / Spread
Book: BetMGM
Odds: −115
Play: Hawks +3.5 · 1 🍊
Why: The line opened Hawks +2.5 at −110 and moved a full point to +3.5 at most books, so we collect the extra point the market added, like a free refill nobody asked the books for. At +3.5 a three-point Orlando win still cashes, and the half point means no push and no awkward group-chat debate about whether that counts. It's the season opener for both teams, so there's no 2026–27 result for the market to overreact to, which, admittedly, has never stopped it before.
🧃 Pulp: The line moved toward Orlando and we don't know why. If it's Atlanta injury news, that extra point isn't free.
Walk-away: Don't play it at +3.5 −125 or worse, or at +3.

The underdog math worked
Yesterday Vig asked what +155 implies for the Sixers at the Knicks. Answer: about 39% (our math: 100 ÷ 255). Philadelphia, who clearly did not read the memo, won 106–100 anyway (theScore). Tyrese Maxey led the way with 28 points.
Elsewhere on opening night, Detroit beat Boston 121–113 (theScore), because apparently opening night is for the bold. Cade Cunningham had 22 points for the Pistons.
Why it matters: A 39% chance isn't a 0% chance, no matter how loud your group chat gets. Underdogs at that price should win roughly two out of every five tries. One upset doesn't prove the price was wrong, and one favorite cashing doesn't prove it was right. Grade the price, not the final score.
World Series: It's the Rays against the Brewers, and Game 1 is Friday in Milwaukee. Milwaukee won 103 games this season. The Brewers swept the Dodgers in the NLCS. Brooms: out. Tampa Bay beat Cleveland 4–2 in the ALCS (ESPN). ESPN's matchup predictor gives Milwaukee a 62.8% chance in Game 1. Media Day is Thursday, aka the day everyone pretends they aren't nervous.
NBA, night two: Eleven games are on Wednesday's schedule. Cancel your plans. Or don't. We're a newsletter, not your boss.
Biggest spreads: Houston is a 9.5-point favorite over Dallas. Toronto is also laying 9.5 against Chicago. The Lakers are 6.5-point favorites over Golden State.
Tightest spreads: Miami is a 1.5-point favorite over Minnesota. Memphis is laying 1.5 against Utah.
Highest total: Timberwolves at Heat sits at 242.5.
NHL: Two games are on the board. Philadelphia visits Buffalo, and Florida visits Ottawa.
Last night on ice: New Jersey beat Colorado 4–3. Colorado backup Scott Wedgewood made 37 saves on the second half of a back-to-back.
The takeaway: A full NBA slate is a menu, not a mandate. The books would love it if you ordered the whole thing. We're taking Hawks +3.5 and keeping two leans on the side.

The almost-Squeeze Plays. Good enough to talk about, not good enough to put an orange on. Here's which way we lean, no official play attached.
The market already bought Buffalo. We're just paying the receipt.
Game: Flyers at Sabres
Sport/Type: NHL / Moneyline
Book: FanDuel
Odds: −182
Lean: Sabres ML
Why: Buffalo opened −152 and the market pushed them as high as −190, with 90% of tickets and 93% of the money on the Sabres, so this is not exactly a secret menu item. They're back home after going 2–3 over their last five, including a 4–3 loss in Montreal on Oct 17. Philly has won two straight (3–1 over Ottawa, 3–2 over Colorado) but is 2–3 over its last five too, and the market is treating that run like a free trial it has no plans to keep.
🧃 Pulp: We're paying full price for Buffalo, and the books don't do coupons. The Sabres had better show up like it.
Brooklyn's total is sliding the wrong way.
Game: Hornets at Nets
Sport/Type: NBA / Total
Book: FanDuel
Odds: −110
Lean: Under 219.5
Why: Total opened 223.5 and dropped to 218.5–219.5 across the market, a 4- to 5-point slide even though 74% of tickets and 76% of the money are on the Over. That's the biggest reverse line move on Wednesday's board, which is the books politely clearing their throat. When the number falls while the public hammers the other side, we'd rather stand with whoever is moving it.
🧃 Pulp: Everyone's betting on buckets in Brooklyn, and the line keeps sliding the other way. Somebody knows something, and it isn't the group chat.
Odds as of this morning. Not official plays. Graded every Monday.

🍊 Five seconds of chaos in Newark
The Devils led Colorado 4–1 after Jesper Boqvist scored into an empty net at 16:05 of the third. Artturi Lehkonen scored with just over three minutes left. Then he scored again at 19:55 with the Avalanche goalie pulled. Final: 4–3 Devils.
Moneyline bettors on New Jersey shrugged and went to bed. Anyone holding Devils −1.5 watched a three-goal lead shrink to a one-goal win with five seconds left, which is a lot of feelings for a Tuesday in October.
Kicker: Vig doesn't count a puck line until the horn. Vig barely counts it after. Vig has trust issues.

🤖 Vig's answer: About 52.4%. For minus odds, divide the odds by the odds plus 100 (our math: 110 ÷ 210).
So you have to win a little more than half your −110 bets just to break even. That extra slice? That's the vig. Yes, he named himself after it. No, he won't apologize.
