Juice: The Lions knelt at the 4 and won. Lions −3.5 bettors would like to file a complaint.
Vig: We're 19–7. I only bring it up because it's finally my turn to talk.
GM. This is Everyday Juice, the sports betting newsletter that took a loss Sunday and is calling it character development.

🧾 The Refill: We ordered a shootout and got a punting showcase.
The Squeeze Play: Pacers at Bucks Over 239.5, at a price the sharps say is too cheap.
🥤 The Fresh Pour: Pennsylvania wants to fire the guy sending you flowers.
🤔 Off the Menu: Two almost-plays, including Calgary at plus money.
⚡ Quick Sips: Ty Jerome turns into a cheat code, the internet holds court on a check swing, and Butker comes up short.
🍋 The Sour Squeeze: Detroit took a knee on your ticket.
🧠 Betting IQ: Why the sticker price on tonight's game is lying to you.
😂 Juicy Meme: Our streak counter gets a fresh coat of zero.
🤖 Beat the Vig: Lions −3.5 bettors lost Sunday by "the hook." What is the hook? Answer in The Last Drop.

Refill: ❌ · Colts–Vikings 1H Over 20.5 (+100), FanDuel, 1 🍊 · −1.00u
We asked for 21 first-half points. The Colts and Vikings handed us 16 and a 10–6 halftime score, which isn't a shootout, it's a punting showcase. We're down 1 unit, now 19–7, and the streak counter is back to zero. We'll lick our wounds and be back tomorrow.

Cheaper than the sharps. We'll take it.
Game: Pacers @ Bucks
Sport/Type: NBA / Total
Book: BetRivers
Odds: −105
Play: Over 239.5 · 1 🍊
Why: BetRivers is dealing this Over at −105, cheaper than Pinnacle's own fair price on the exact same number. The rest of the market wants −110 or a higher total, so this is the best Over on the board. The edge is thin, about 2%, so it's a small bet and not a lifestyle.
Pulp: Ivica Zubac is unlikely to play for Indiana, and the line hasn't moved on the news. This is also a public side, with most of the tickets already on the Over.
Walk-away: worse than −108 at 239.5, or the line hits 241+. Past that, we pass.
Price as of 7:40 AM ET at BetRivers. Lines move; check yours. BetRivers is a sportsbook; available where legal. 1 🍊 = 1% of your bankroll.

Lawmakers want your VIP host fired
What happened: Pennsylvania House Bill 2879 was filed on Oct 21. It would ban VIP programs that assign you a host or reward you for betting more. It would also ban microbets, the bet-on-the-next-play stuff. It's a bill, not a law, and it hasn't even had a committee vote. Washington is asking questions too: Sen. Blumenthal and Reps. Tonko and Foushee sent letters to six sportsbooks and prediction markets about their VIP programs, with answers due Nov 5.
Why it matters: The bill grew out of a state study that found 5.7% of online sports bettors made up most of the spending. At one book, a VIP program drove more than 70% of revenue, per the bill's sponsors. The customers behind it were half of 1% of the player base. That isn't a loyalty program, that's a tab.
The takeaway: The flowers aren't free. You already paid for them with the bets you lost.

Today's leans: The almost-Squeeze Plays. We liked them, just not enough.
Toronto got expensive overnight. We're shopping Calgary.
Game: Maple Leafs at Flames
Sport/Type: NHL / Moneyline
Book: FanDuel
Odds: +136
Lean: Flames ML
Why: Toronto went from −135 to −162 by Sunday night. It has drifted back, and Pinnacle's no-vig price makes Calgary about +132. Calgary has also won four of its last five.
Pulp: Calgary played Sunday and is on a back-to-back, and tonight's goalie isn't confirmed. Toronto has won four straight.
No bigs, no defense, no problem.
Game: Grizzlies at Jazz
Sport/Type: NBA / Total
Book: BetRivers
Odds: −112
Lean: Over 237.5
Why: Pinnacle's total sits at 239. Zach Edey and Jusuf Nurkic are both out, so nobody is guarding the rim. Utah's last game landed at 255.
Pulp: Both teams played Sunday night, and tired legs can mean bricks. The edge here is razor thin, under half a percent.
Odds as of 6:30 AM ET. Not official plays. Leans are not part of the Squeeze record.

Ty Jerome is playing like a cheat code. ESPN NBA has him averaging 34.7 points a game for a Memphis team that hasn't lost yet. We have the Grizzlies game in Off the Menu, and we're not complaining. (via @ESPNNBA)
Did Yandy go? Saturday's World Series game ended on a check-swing call on Yandy Díaz, and the replies are basically a courtroom. Half the internet says he went, and the other half has frame-by-frame proof he didn't. Either way, the Rays head home tonight down 0–2 and holding a grudge. (via @espn)
Butker is... short. Sunday night was supposed to be the Chiefs staying perfect, and instead Seattle won 20–3. If you had Kansas City plus the points, you weren't sweating the cover. You were sweating whether they'd score a touchdown at all. (via @BussinWTB)

Lions −3.5, Packers at Lions. Tied late, Detroit drove to the Green Bay 3 with about a minute left. Every Lions −3.5 ticket was one easy touchdown from cashing.
Then Jared Goff took a knee. Detroit bled the clock, and Jake Bates hit a 22-yard field goal as time expired. Lions win 20–17, and Lions −3.5 loses by half a point.
The coach made the right call. He was betting on the win, not on your ticket. The hook did the rest.

Why the sticker price lies
The idea: A moneyline isn't the real win chance. The book bakes its cut into both sides, like a waiter who tips himself first. Strip it out before you call anything "value."
Today's example: Tonight the Eagles are +180 at DraftKings against Dallas. That reads as a 35.7% chance. Add both sides together and you get 104.3%, because the book's cut is in there. Take it out, and Philly is really closer to 34.2%.
The takeaway: Compare your number to the no-vig price, not the sticker.

Days since the Squeeze Play lost: 0. Loss #1 since the streak started, and Vig has been waiting all week to hold this card.

Vig's answer: The hook is the half point on a spread, like the .5 in −3.5. It exists so the bet can't push. On Sunday, it existed to ruin Lions bettors' afternoon.
