  • Liberty covered.

  • The move already left.

  • Missouri +5.5.

Trivia: On this date in 1974, who became the first Black manager in Major League Baseball? Answer in The Last Drop.

🔁 The Refill

Liberty 30, Delaware 14. We had −6.5. Covered by 9.5, and it wasn't a squeaker.

5-1. Last: Liberty −6.5 (−115), Hard Rock. ✅ W.

🫗 The Main Pour

The move already left

Liberty cashed because the number was still sitting there. A 16-point win, and −6.5 never had to go find the score.

Miami at Clemson is the other Saturday. It opened about −7, total 55.5. By this morning the side was −15.5 and the total was 47.5. The side walked more than a touchdown. The total fell eight points on the way out.

That is not a better price on the same idea. It is a different bet, and we don't have a reason we'd write down. So we are not paying −15.5 for a game that opened at −7. The books already spoke. They can keep the last word.

The play comes next. This one is just the mess they left on the counter.

🎯 The Squeeze Play

Florida @ Missouri: Missouri +5.5

The number walked three points and didn't ask us to come along. We're taking the home dog it left standing there.

It opened Florida −2.5. It's −5.5 everywhere now, and the total went from 53.5 to 57.5. DraftKings, BetMGM, and Caesars all have Missouri +5.5 at −110. That's the best price. We're not paying more for the same number.

Why we're in

No. 25 Missouri is 3-1 and at home. No. 8 Florida is 4-0.

About three quarters of the tickets and the money are on Florida. The move and the money agree. We're betting the move went a step too far, not that Florida isn't the better team.

ESPN has no injury list on this game. This is not a scratch play.

The case is 5.5 points. That's the whole argument.

The Pulp: Florida is undefeated, ranked 8th, and Missouri is 0-1 in the SEC. If the Gators are simply a touchdown better, +5.5 is a polite way to lose. We watched the number leave, then walked back the other way. That's either patience or a very orange kind of stubborn.

🍊 THE SQUEEZE PLAY: Missouri +5.5 (−110), DraftKings, 3:30 PM ET.

Squeeze Rating: 🍊 (1% of bankroll. Each 🍊 = 1%.)

If Missouri isn't +5.5 (−110) or better, we pass. Better means more points, or this number at a better price.

Official Pick: Missouri +5.5 (−110), DraftKings, 3:30 PM ET. 1🍊 (1%).

Watching: California @ UNLV, 3:30 PM ET. Opened Cal −1.5. About 7:00 AM ET Saturday, UNLV was −2.5. DraftKings had Cal +2.5 (−110). The consensus number was Cal +2.5 (−102), which is not a price anyone can bet. 44% of the tickets and 77% of the money were on Cal. Not a play.

News Only: Miami @ Clemson, 7:30 PM ET. Opened about −7, total 55.5. About 7:00 AM ET Saturday: DraftKings Miami −15.5 (−110), total 47.5. Consensus Miami −16.5 (−115), total 47.5. Not a play.

🥤 Quick Sips

  • The bet is Missouri +5.5. Florida −5.5 is the same number, from the other side.

  • Miami already walked, from about −7 to −15.5. That one is not.

  • Cal has 44% of the tickets and 77% of the money, and it is still not a play.

🔍 Peel Back the Numbers

44% of the tickets and 77% of the money were on Cal, and Cal was still a dog. The tickets and the money are not the same thing. A side can be the popular opinion and the unpopular dollar at once. We didn't bet it. The price wasn't a number we could write down.

Everyday Juice

📰 Pulp Fiction

When the tickets and the money agree, that side is the bet. The move and the money can agree and still be a step too far. Agreement is not a reason.

FICTION: If the public and the money are on the same side, that side is the play.

THE JUICE: We still have to say what's wrong. We could on Missouri. If we can't, we pass.
