🧾 The Refill

Yesterday: PASS. No play line, no oranges, no change to the record.

The last graded orange is still Thursday's Cade Otton Over 24.5 receiving yards, cashed by half a yard. Friday was all shapes, no stamp. A pass never shows up in the win column. Or the loss column. That's the point.

🍊 The Squeeze Play

🍊 Florida/South Carolina: Over 55.5

Two SEC offenses that score. Two SEC defenses that mostly watch. Saturday, 12:45 PM ET, in The Swamp.

Why the line matters
Most books are hanging 58.5. We're paying −145 at Hard Rock Bet for three points of cushion. That's a buffer number, not the sharpest price. A lean, not an edge.

Why we're in
Every SEC game either team has played this year went over 58. Florida's lowest was 62, at Missouri.
And that was Florida short-handed: no Vernell Brown III, its No. 2 receiver, and no starting safety Bryce Thornton, hurt in warmups. Florida still scored 17, and the total still cleared.
South Carolina has ruled out six defenders. Its offense still runs for 256 yards a game and outgained Kentucky 458–394.

🧃 The Pulp
If Florida goes up two scores early, it can hand Jadan Baugh the ball and drain the clock. Scattered storms are in the forecast, and a lightning delay kills rhythm and adds zero points. And −145 is a lot of juice for a cushion. We bought the extra room so a boring Saturday doesn't beat us. A truly boring one still can.

🍊 Squeeze Play: Florida/South Carolina Over 55.5 (−145), Hard Rock Bet, 1 orange (price as of 12:07 AM ET)

Hard Rock Bet is a sportsbook; available where legal.

Lines move. If yours is 56.5 or higher, or 55.5 at worse than −155, we're out, and you should be too.

🥤 The Main Pour

The road team is 4–0. The money isn't buying Cleveland.

Four games into the White Sox–Guardians ALDS, the road team is 4–0. Game 5 is tonight in Cleveland, 8:00 PM ET, which by this series' logic makes home field a mild inconvenience. Gavin Williams (AL-best 248 strikeouts) starts for Cleveland two days after closing Game 4 on 18 pitches. Sean Burke starts for Chicago and is 3–0 with a 1.19 ERA against Cleveland this year (AP via FOX Sports). Both bullpens have been through a car wash.

The market: Cleveland −136, White Sox +115 (consensus, Action Network, 10:02 PM ET Fri). 60% of the moneyline tickets are on Cleveland. 68% of the money is on Chicago. Bigger bets on the dog, more bets on the favorite. That's all it proves.

Here's the useful part: −136 sets a higher bar than most people think (the math is in The Last Drop). Paying for a team isn't the same as getting it at a good price. Our Friday screen found neither side clears the bar.

The takeaway: the best story on the board and the best bet on the board are rarely the same game.

📈 LINE MOVE · Georgia @ Alabama · 7:30 PM ET

Georgia opened −2.5. Now Alabama is −1.5 and the Dawgs are the ones getting points. Fifty-six and a half became fifty-one and a half while everybody’s still arguing about who’s actually better. There’s a hurricane named Isaias hanging around Tuscaloosa like an uninvited guest. The game’s still on, and AP says the worst may pass by kickoff. If the wind shows up anyway, the number already knows.

BAMA −1.5 · Total 51.5 · 70% of ML money on UGA · Best: UGA +1.5 −105 bet365

👀 WATCH · Texas vs. Oklahoma · Dallas · 3:30 PM ET

Ninety-seven percent of the tickets say Texas. Eighty-eight percent of the money says Texas. The total is thirty-nine and a half, which is what you bet when both fanbases have already written the eulogy for the other side. Everybody knows who wins. Nobody knows by how much. That’s the only fight left in the Cotton Bowl.

TEX −7.5 · Total 39.5 · Best: OU +7.5 −112 BR, TEX −7.5 −105 DK/FD/MGM

📈 LINE MOVE · Ravens @ Falcons · Sunday 8:20 PM ET

Eight points. That’s not a nudge, that’s a confession. Baltimore opened −4.5, Lamar Jackson got ruled out, and now Atlanta is laying 3.5. Named reason. Eight-point flip. That’s the market doing its job, loudly.

ATL −3.5 · ML: 52% tickets / 61% money ATL

⚡ Quick Sips

Na na na na, hey hey, goodbye… oh no: White Sox fans waved Guardians rookie Parker Messick off the mound in the third inning of Game 4. Then Cleveland put up six in the sixth, won 9–5 and forced Game 5. Foul Territory on X

Jeffrey Maier, refund edition: A Yankees fan reached over the wall and turned Anthony Volpe's would-be game-tying homer into an RBI double. New York lost 4–3 and got swept by the Rays. MLB.com

81% is not 100%: Prediction markets had Dallas at up to 81% at kickoff. The 0–4 Bucs won 24–16 outright. We had a piece of that one: Otton's Over cashed by half a yard. DeFi Rate

Bulletin board, empty end zone: Oklahoma hasn't scored a touchdown against Texas since 2023, so Inside Texas asked Venables and Sarkisian about it the week of the game. Inside Texas / On3

😂 Juicy Meme
Juice, wearing black pants, watches a TEXAS scoreboard flip from 39.5 to a question mark twice while both fanbases shout. Everybody knows who wins. Nobody knows by how much.

39.5 points. Zero agreement.

Oct. 10, 1920, Cleveland, World Series Game 5. Elmer Smith hit the first grand slam in Series history in the first inning. Cleveland second baseman Bill Wambsganss caught a liner, stepped on second and tagged the runner coming from first: an unassisted triple play, still the only one in postseason history (SABR). Brooklyn outhit Cleveland 13–12 and lost 8–1 (Baseball-Reference). Hits don't cash tickets. Runs do.

💧 The Last Drop

B. About 57.6%.

Break-even on a favorite is the price divided by the price plus 100: 136 ÷ 236 = 57.6%. Not A: 50% is a coin flip with no vig, and books don't sell those. Not C: 42.4% is what's left over, not what Cleveland needs. Remove the vig from both sides and the market has Cleveland near 55%, short of 57.6%.

Game 5 tonight, Georgia–Alabama in the rain, and a full NFL Sunday tomorrow. See you before breakfast, Juicers.
